Analysis of Similar Film- The Cooler
Bernie Lootz is a man who has the worst luck in Las Vegas and has a job in a top casino as a Cooler, to stop other players lucky streaks by spreading his back luck. However when he meets a gorgeous cocktail waitress his luck (and those around him) changes.
What Bernie doesn't know the young girl is been paid by the manager to keep him in town, but what she doesn't know is that the young girl and Bernie have really fallen in love that causes problems for the luck of the casino.
There are several similarities and differences between this film and our lucky penny film:
- They both have a theme of luck.
In 'The Cooler' the man is very unlucky and spreads his bad luck to others around him but when he meets someone he is in love with this all changes. And in our film it is the penny that gives luck to whoever owns it and when it is taken from them so is the luck. However a difference between the two films is that our film the protagonist looses the luck by loosing the penny but in the cooler the man gains luck by falling in love.
- They both find out another character in the film has deceived them.
In our film the main character finds out that her boyfriend has been steeling from her and has stolen her lucky penny. And in 'The Cooler' Bernie finds out that the manager of the casino has been paying Natalie to seduce him into staying in Las Vegas.
