Action films became commonplace in the early 1900's. Throughout the years they've included different elements and components. However, nowadays action films can be seen to include a fast paced narrative, with a vast array of technical and special effects - elements that make them increasingly popular today. The ideology behind action films is an uncontrollable pace and tempo with uncontrollable events and stunts taking place. The hero(ine) always overcomes incredible odds and defeats the villain by the end of film, which satisfies the audience contently. Initially, action films were a genre to satisfy the male audience (13-30). This was due to frequent explosions, car chases, fight scenes and romantic relationships included within the genre. However, more recently action films have become more appealing to a larger audience, including women.
