Alterations To Storyline

During our filming on day one we have found several problems with our current story line. We don't have a clear enough idea why our main character, Sarah, figures out that the coin is lucky as she never acknowledges this or clearly sees that the coin is giving her luck.

We have decided to make a few alterations to the story to make it clear how and when she figures out the coin is lucky.

Improved story line.....

Sarah is on her way to her nannan's house for a visit and to help her with the hobby she enjoys, counting and collecting special coins. Sarah arrives at her nannan's house where she is greeted with a hug and goes straight to count the coins.  A few hours after starting her nannan finds one particular coin in the pile. A double-headed 2p. She explains that this is a special coin and has brought years of luck to her while she has owned it and then gives it Sarah to keep. Unconvinced of its luck Sarah takes the coin and pours the rest of the jar onto the pile.

3 years later Sarah is coming round from a daydream she had had from when her nannan gave her a special coin, realising she hasn't seen it in a while she digs it out of an old jewellery box she had kept it safe in and has a good look at the doubled headed sides. Her mum calls from downstairs to tell her to take the dog for a walk.

Sarah finally slides her way to the park because there is lots of snow and ice, causing her to struggle holding onto the lead and stay standing. Sarah slips on the ice and lets go of the lead. But instead of the dog running off, as it usually would, the dog stops and lets Sarah catch up.

When back at home she begins some homework when her mum rings. She answers and asks where her i-pod has gone but instead gets accused of stealing money from her mum. Annoyed she throws her phone and it lands in pieces.
A few minutes later she comes back to find her phone fixed and back up on the table
Oblivious to this she takes her phone and rings her best friend Leah asking if she can come round.

Once at Leah's house Sarah goes straight in and Leah's sister directs her straight up to her room, on the way up she gets her phone out of her pocket, but also finds the coin she had put in earlier and wishes it was really lucky.
Sarah finds Leah in her bedroom with lots of things piled up, including her i-pod she had lost and the money that was stolen from her mum. Sarah has a flash back of all the times she has been lucky and realises each time she has had the coin on her.  Sarah then realises that Leah isn't the friend she thought she was, and so lets the coin decided by staying if it lands on heads and leaving if it lands on tails; she slams the coin on a table and leaves knowing the answer.
The double headed coin lands on tails.

Film Title
Due to the change in out story line we no longer have a flipping coin in our film and so our title doesn't fit with the story line.
The new title we have chosen, out of the other names we thought of before, is 'Luck Out' we have chosen this titles because it is subtle and represents the theme of the films ,luck, as well as represents the relationship between the two friends.

Revised Certificate
We have changed the certificate of our film from a 12 A to a PG, we have re looked at the script and storyboard and have come up with no reason why anyone younger than a 12 can't go and see this film. We no longer have anything in our film that may influence younger children, and there is no adult situations or themes.
We have chosen a PG not U because we still think any child younger than 8 may think the themes in this story are true and could happen to them.

Changed Target Audience
In the time since we originally looked at our target audience our film has undergone a lot of changes. The script and story line have changed and, instead of it being about a couple it is now about two best friends. We feel that now the rating has gone down to a PG and there has been a change in the story line our film will now appeal to a different  target audience. We think that our film is more suitable for girls and women but mainly feel it is a film that is going to interest teenage girls this is because they could relate to both of our main characters.
